There was a day when home schooling was virtually unheard of. Stay at home moms (SAHMs) were at home with kids all day, but they were moms, not teachers. Nowadays, SAHMs are beginning to think twice about sending the kids to school and going back to work themselves. There is a strong tendency, in metropolitan areas, to not want to send children to public schools in the area. However, the cost of private school tuition has risen so much that in some cases, SAHMs would not gain very much by working and sending the kids to school. Especially when there’s more than one child in the home, it can be not only more fulfilling to home school, but also a wiser financial decision.

What are Home Study Schools?

A home study school is basically a school where studying happens at home instead of in a school. Mothers or other adults are the teachers in the home school program and the curriculum is either designed by a distributor of home study school curriculums, or designed by the mothers/teachers themselves. Of course, a father can also be the home schooler, but in many cases, these home schools are seeing women at the head of their ‘classrooms’.
